Other High Performance Plastics

Kel-F® - also known by the chemical name PCTFE. It has an extremely low vapor transmission, very good surface hardness, and is used for valve seats and gaskets. It has an operating temperature from -400 degrees F to 400 degrees F.
Tefzel(r) - also known by the chemical ETFE. It exhibits the excellent chemical and electrical properties of the fluorocarbon family along with high tensile strength and good flex life. It is used in chemical or petroleum applications.

Halar® - also known as ECTFE. This fluorocarbon offers very good tensile modulus and strength, along with high heat distortion temperature.

Rexolite® - is a CROSS LINKED POLYSTYRENE. It maintains its' dielectric properties over an extremely wide range of frequencies. It is used in microwave transmitters and receivers, as well as radar applications.

VESPE® - is a polyimide that can withstand spike temperatures to 900 degrees F and continuous of 500 degrees F. It is extremely hard and resistant to creep or cold flow. It combines strength, electrical, and thermal properties to replace metal in demanding applications. It is available with a variety of fillers.

TORLON® - is a polyamideimide which offers high continuous use temperature of 475 degrees F and offers compressive strength, chemical resistance, and mechanical properties. It is often used as high speed bushings, bearings, and insulators in aerospace applications. It is available with various fillers.

RULON® - is a PTFE based material that has various fillers to improve its' wear resistance, but remain non-abrasive. It is used as a slide or glide as well as bushings and bearings.

TURCITE® - is primarily a bushing/bearing material and comes in 2 grades; "A" and "X". Turcite A(r) is for moderate to heavy loads and moderate speeds. It is turquoise in color. Turcite X(r) is for low load, high speed applications and is red in color. Both grades are internally lubricated, are moisture resistant, and have excellent chemical and anti corrosive properties.

ULTEM- PEI - Ultem, or Polyetherimide, combines thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties in a unique balance that classifies it as a truly high performance thermoplastic. Ultem is used extensively in medical applications, as well as microwave and aerospace fields.

  • Continuous use temperature of 338F. Ultem retains a high level of all its properties at elevated temperatures.
  • FDA/USDA/NSF compliant
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical properties.
  • Can be autoclaved repeatedly, low smoke evolution, easily machined.
  • Available glass filled.
